Seeking quality after school care for your child? Temple Shalom has you covered!

Spend your time off from school with our friends at Temple Shalom’s School’s Out Squad! An extension of our newly launched youth program, Shalom After School (SAS), School’s Out Squad boasts an experienced and talented team of educators who specialize in creating fun, enriching experiences for school-aged children of all backgrounds and faiths.

Based in West Newton, School’s Out Squad offers intentionally small group sizes to ensure all participants receive the affordable, first-rate care they deserve. Our approach lays the foundation for more individualized attention, meaningful connections, and a calm, supportive environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Each day features a wide variety of structured activities that include sports & movement, arts & crafts projects, STEM challenges, cooking clubs, music workshops, toys, games, prizes, and more.

Scheduling is fully customizable. You can commit to full weeks or simply the days your child will require care.

At School’s Out Squad, children get to make the most of their time outside the classroom—building confidence, joining a loving community, taking part in fun and exciting adventures, and making memories that will surely last a lifetime!

Who? All children attending kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 5-11) are eligible to participate! You do not have to be enrolled in Shalom After School—nor do you have to be a member of our congregation—to join the fun! There are still plenty of open slots available, but we encourage families to act quickly and submit an Enrollment Form by clicking the button located at the top of this page.

When? We will be providing vacation care on the following dates:

MLK Jr. Day: Monday, January 19th
February Break: Tuesday, February 17th—Friday, February 20th
April Break: Tuesday, April 21st—Friday, February 24th

Each day will begin at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm.

We require each child to bring a packed, nut-free lunch from home. Healthy snacks will be provided everyday.

Where? We will primarily use the classrooms on the second floor for activities and meals. However, we will also make use of the outdoor playground as well as the event spaces for games and projects that require extra space. Every area of the synagogue has been carefully inspected, approved, and licensed by the EEC (Department of Early Education & Care).
